At the port of Beirut, firefighters are extinguished, but rage towards authorities continues
Lebanese firefighters extinguished a large fire at Beirut port on Friday, the site of last month ‘s deadly dockside blast, which also damaged much-needed food aid, sparking public outrage.
AFP correspondents recorded that fire crews used cranes to hose down the fire’s last smouldering embers that swept through already destroyed warehouses Thursday.
But the latest blaze has rekindled widespread outrage over the inability of the authorities to provide public protection, right at the heart of the city.
The fire broke out Thursday afternoon as staff were doing repair work on some of the warehouses that were still standing after the explosion last month.
