Israel is enforcing a second COVID-19 lockout amid protests.

On Friday, Israel placed a second national shutdown to combat one of the highest levels of coronavirus infection in the world, amid public protests.

Just hours before Rosh Hashana, the Jewish new year, the three-week shutdown from 2:00 pm (1100 GMT) began and would continue to other main religious holidays, including Yom Kippur and Sukkot.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that there was no alternative but to enforce a lockout on the Country.
