First case of new coronavirus variant found in France as cases rise
France reported the first case of a new coronavirus variant, as the number of cases and deaths from COVID-19 occurred in the region, raising fears about a new coronavirus wave reaching the second largest economy in the euro area.
The French Ministry of Health said a Frenchman who had recently returned from London to France had tested positive for the new coronavirus variant.
The ministry reported that the event – the first in France – had been discovered in the town of Tours. On Dec. 19, the man in question arrived from London. The ministry added that he was currently self-isolating and feeling alright.
