Sarah Black, the FBI Profiler on the Run

In “Red Notice,” Gal Gadot plays Sarah Black, an FBI profiler who is framed for the theft of Cleopatra’s egg. Sarah is then forced to team up with rival criminals Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) and the Bishop (Dwayne Johnson) to clear her name.

Sarah faces physical and emotional difficulties throughout the film. She is constantly on the run from both the FBI and the criminals who framed her. The betrayal of her colleague Agent Hartley also takes an emotional toll. But Sarah perseveres through her intelligence, resilience, and determination.

Gal Gadot’s Physical Struggles with Stunt Work

Gal Gadot had to undergo extensive stunt training and perform many of her own stunts as Sarah Black. This included fight sequences, car chases, and jumps.

In an interview, Gal said the stunt work for “Red Notice” was some of the most physically demanding of her career. She had to train for months with stunt coordinators to prepare. Gal also suffered injuries during filming, including bruises and muscle strains.

Gal said working with stunt doubles helped but she still wanted to do as many stunts as possible herself. She felt it helped her embody the physicality and grit of Sarah Black. But the stunt work came at a cost, taking both a mental and physical toll on Gal throughout the production.

The Challenges of Working with Green Screens

Much of “Red Notice” was filmed using green screen technology, which Gal Gadot found challenging at times.

Gal said she struggled with the lack of tangible surroundings when acting opposite green screens. She had to rely entirely on her imagination to envision the environments Sarah Black was in. This made it difficult for Gal to gauge distances, heights and interactions with props.

Working with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds
Gal also faced the challenge of holding her own alongside co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds, two of Hollywood’s biggest names and personalities.

Gal said Dwayne and Ryan were both wonderful to work with but that their massive star presences could be intimidating at first. She had to find a way to make Sarah Black distinct from their larger-than-life characters while also having chemistry with them on screen.

In the end, Gal Gadot’s determination, work ethic and professionalism helped her overcome the struggles of filming “Red Notice.” She channeled the difficulties into Sarah Black’s character, giving her an authenticity and grit that comes through on screen.

While “Red Notice” appears to be a fun action romp on the surface, Gal Gadot’s journey to bring Sarah Black to life shows the unseen challenges that go into making any major blockbuster film. Gal’s perseverance in the face of adversity is yet another testament to her strength as an actress and action star.
